Bonaire is a very friendly and virgin island, especially when I first moved there.
In addition to my work as a general practitioner, I have also gained experience in addiction care as a doctor, in obstetrics, as a lecturer at the FM Academy, as a police doctor and as a prison doctor. In addition, I have volunteered on the boards of several health care organizations.

The warmth of the sun and of the inhabitants, the sea, the short distances and the diversity of the people. The different cultures that live here side by side and the striving for a: “Pueblo humilde, sèmper kontentu di un kondukta tur parti gaba”, as the national anthem says.
My contribution to health care on Bonaire:
Since 2008 I have been committed to teaching residents how to resuscitate. Both professionals and laymen; adults and youth (junior Rangers). So that people know what to do if someone is unconscious or choking. And how to use an AED (automatic external defibrillator). In recent years I have been doing this through the Hart voor Bonaire foundation.
Furthermore, I participate as a volunteer and sometimes as a participant in sporting events organized by Comcabon. As a volunteer I have also helped several times at the Duo Extreme and as a doctor I once made my contribution to the swim to Klein Bonaire. I am also active as a participant in several other local sporting events.
Of course my greatest contribution is my work as a doctor in various areas, such as diving medicine, forensic medicine and above all general practice.
It is a great privilege to be able to live in good health and safety on this beautiful island and I am happy to make a small contribution to this.

The small scale, the warm people, nice weather, beaches and the clear blue sea. Every hour of free time feels like a mini-vacation.
In addition to my work as a general practitioner, I fulfill various other roles and tasks. For example, I am responsible for on-call services for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) and the Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) – Public Health (PG). These services include, for example, examining cases of unnatural death. I also work at the Huisartsenpost (HAP) in the evenings and weekends and I am a board member at Fundashon Alzheimer. Within the Bonaire General Practitioners Association (BHV), I fulfill the role of secretary.
I also act as a point of contact on behalf of the general practitioners for Thuiszorg, Inspectie and the consultation between PCC (Patient Care Coordination) and HAP. Furthermore, I contributed to a study on long-COVID for Public Health. My experience and expertise as a general practitioner on Bonaire were of great importance for this study. An article about this research is still planned to be published.
In addition to my medical and administrative responsibilities, I also like to contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Twice a week I teach Body Pump classes at Dreamz gym, where I help people stay fit.

I first visited Bonaire as a teenager and fell in love immediately. I said then: “This is where I want to live and work.” In 2009, that dream came true and I started working here. The quiet island and the friendly people make Bonaire special. I enjoy the beautiful nature and the breathtaking sea. I love this island.
In 2009 I started as a midwife on Bonaire. In 2011 I decided to come and live and work here. Since then I have fulfilled various roles, including midwife, head of the delivery room and maternity ward, teacher, practice supervisor, and Air-Ambulance Midwife Peer Support. In addition, I have been active for 10 years as a counselor at the Bureau Slachtofferhulp in collaboration with the local police station (KPCN).

Our Team

This is our team. We are dedicated, caring and always ready to serve you with patience and kindness. We believe that every person deserves quality care in a compassionate and caring environment. With a strong team by our side, we are here to listen, support and provide the best service possible. Your health and well-being is our priority.
Practice assistants (POH-S and POH-GGZ)
Within our team, we also have a number of practice assistants (POH-S or POH-GGZ) who are ready to help you.
Practice Assistant - Somatics (POH-S)
The POH-S organises consultations for patients with chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and (risk of) cardiovascular diseases. These consultations are carried out in all practices by specially trained nurses who work under the responsibility of the general practitioner.
A consultation hour for patients with COPD will be introduced soon. Additionally, programmes for elderly care, prevention and lifestyle will be launched.
Practice Assistant - Mental Health Care (POH-GGZ)
The POH-GGZ acts as an additional link between the general practitioner and mental health institutions. If you are experiencing psychological issues and not feeling well, you can reach out to the POH-GGZ to share your concerns. The practice assistant will assess your situation and determine what help is needed. Depending on the nature of the complaints, the POH-GGZ may initiate a short treatment plan with follow-up consultations or refer you to more specialised care.
